My key broke off in my door lock - what should I do?!

If your key breaks off while inside your vehicle ignition or door lock, it’s of large importance that you hold onto any piece of the key that may have fallen on the floor - this makes it much easier for a locksmith to make a new one for you from scratch. This is the sort of job that’s best handled by a locksmith, because amateur efforts at key removal could do damage to the locking cylinder. My ignition isn’t turning - what is wrong?

There’s multiple factors that could cause your ignition to be unable to turn. It could be dirty or clogged with dirt, dust, or other debris, which may be causing the inner tumblers to stick inside the cylinder lock - preventing them from moving into a flat position which would allow the cylinder to turn. Another possibility, is that the key is slightly bent, which makes the teeth unable to meet the tumblers and prevents the lock from turning.

How long does it take to make car keys from scratch?

What is a transponder key?

Transponder keys are electronic keys with chips implanted in the plastic section of the key head which contains a unique code specific to your car. This ensures that your car is being operated by only the right hands - if the correct matching code isn’t read, the car won’t turn on.

My remote key won’t work, what should I do?

Our technicians can easily remedy this - it’s likely that the car battery has ran out - we will bring you a new battery and easily complete the necessary key reprogramming to sync to your vehicle.
